How to teach your dog to leave something
When the dog retrieves a toy or holds something in the mouth give the command LEAVE IT. If the dog does not leave it then wait. Dont remove the toy from the mouth with your hands. Be patient with this exercise. It may take several minutes to leave it. When the dog leaves it then reward it with affection or a treat. Repeat this exercise several times a day.
