How to train a dog that barks at your friends
So you have a dog that constantly barks when it knocks or rings at the dog? And does he bark at your guests once they enter your house? Then you should definitely read the next few lines on how to train a dog to stop barking at your houseguests.
Distraction is the key! A dog that barks at the door and at houseguests is a somewhat nervous dog that has not learned what to make of strangers, and therefore treats them as a possible danger. You must train your dog to learn that guests and sounds by the door are ok. The method is really simple and involves a toy and some goodies placed outside the door.
You must remember to inform your guests on how the system works, but you can do so by simply hanging a poster outside the door.
Place the toy and treats in a bucket outside your front door. Once the guests come, they will bring 5 treats and the toy in with them. They will put the treats and the toy at the floor, and then continue with the visit at your house. After just a couple of minutes you then take the toy and place it back into the bucket outside the door, in case of new guests.
