How to Use Aveeno Bath for an Itching Dog
An itching dog is an unhappy dog. And an unhappy dog means an unhappy family. Rover might itch for many reasons. He may have allergies, fleas or dry and sensitive skin. Whatever the reason, itchy skin needs to be treated quickly and as gently as possible. Noncolloidal oatmeal soothes inflamed and irritated skin. Humans use Aveeno Non-Colloidal Oatmeal Bath to ease their symptoms. Mans best friend also benefits from its healing qualities. Dogs may not love baths but when they feel relief from the itch, Rover will be happy and so will his family.
Instructions
- 1
Open one packet of Aveeno Non-Colloidal Bath. Pour the contents into a plastic bowl. Add two to three cups of cool, clean water. Mix into a slurry. The mixture should not be too runny.
2Take the bowl with you and leash your dog. Wear some waterproof shoes or boots, if desired. Go outside to your yard or patio.
3Attach the water gun to the hose. Attach the hose to the water outlet and turn on the water outlet. Select the shower option from the water gun.
4Wet your dog thoroughly. Avoid getting water in the ears or eyes. Unless the dogs head is itching, do not wet his head. Rub the coat as you wet the dog to ensure that the skin is fully moistened.
5Start at the shoulders and massage in the oatmeal mixture. Make sure the product makes contact with the skin. Be sure to treat the legs and the tail as well.
6Let the treatment work for at least ten minutes. Hold your dog on the leash to prevent him from rubbing himself on the ground. After ten to fifteen minutes, rinse the dog off well. Release the dog from the leash and step back; he will shake off excess water.
7Blot dry your dog with a clean soft towel. Avoid rubbing. Reward your dog with a dog treat.
