yet they refuse to eat any of them, wanting only table food. Will they eventually eat the dog food if it is all they are offered, or will they let themselves starve?
Answers:
By switching food, and when you "cave" and give them table food, youre teaching them that all they have to do is wait, and they will get what they want.

Heres what you do.
Pick one brand of kibble. Make sure its high quality and doesnt contain corn or wheat.
Pick 2 meal times (morning and night) and set a strict schedule. Put the food out for 15 minutes, then pick it up. They get NOTHING until the next meal. Dont "cave". They will learn really quickly to eat the food thats out during meal time.

They wont starve themselves.
Promise.
My friend raises bostons %26 shes very strict about their diets. In the morning she gives them raw carrots mixed with fish %26 potato kibble. In the evening, its just the kibble with a little water in it to moisten it. She said the fish %26 potato is good for their skin %26 digestion. She does not offer them anything during the day except for 1 dog biscuit when they go into their kennels. Thats it. She said they learn to eat or they go hungry until the next meal %26 very few have ever skipped more than 1 meal. You just gotta be firm %26 itll work.
I have a bosten terrier to who is very picky, try giving them peddigree dog food, and every time they eat give them a treat. i know it sounds weird but it worked for my dog. hope this helps.

If Dogs Really Are Mans Best Friend How Come Youre Afraid of Dogs | puppy training

If Dogs Really Are Mans Best Friend How Come Youre Afraid of Dogsdog training

Dogs are said to be mans best friend. Weve got a long history of dogs helping us - either to round up sheep, look after our property or just generally wag their tail in appreciation at the slightest opportunity. Which makes it hard to work out why some people are afraid of dogs.

But the fear of dogs is a very real phenomenon.

A lot of people are worried by these creatures. Some people balk at the idea of ferocious looking dogs whilst others only have to be in the same road as a dog for their fear to manifest.

Although its easier said than done, the best thing to do is to not show your fear. Animals have a much more developed instinct on this kind of thing than we do as humans. They can sense or even smell your fear. Which puts you at a distinct disadvantage before you begin.

So practice putting on a brave face rather than instinctively crossing the road at the merest hint of canine approach.

Next up, see if you can find a friendly dog to meet on neutral territory. You dont want to meet in the dogs house as that would give it "home ground" advantage. Maybe a park or other public place. Get used to being within a few yards of the dog without actually touching it. This will allow you to build up a small bond with the creature and is more likely to end with a good result.

When youre ready, which may not be for a few days or weeks, approach the dog. Keep eye contact so minimise the risk of showing the animal you used to be afraid of dogs. Let the dog smell you so that its not worried either. Then, if youre up to it, stroke the dog. Watch for signs of appreciation - a discrete wag of the tail is a good sign, bared teeth less so (and a good reason for keeping the owner not too far away either).

Is this normal? I have never owned a female dog and so I am still learning about them. She just went through her first heat and I kept her locked up but the male dog broke into the dog runn and I found them
Answers:
This is called a "tie", and its part of dog mating.

Throwing cold water on them MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT "stop" them! The male is knotted and physically trapped inside the female! Good lord.

Pregnancy is not guaranteed, but obviously shes still receptive, so she may end up that way. If shes under a year, this will be very difficult on her body. Having her spayed as soon as possible will nullify the issue and fix the problem of heat cycles once and for all.
they mated
Thats what happens after dogs mate..
Its called dog knotting and its common when they mate. They should be fine.
What do you mean stuck together. I think what your talking about is a tail tie. They do this after they breed and it almost always means youve got pups on the way. Why didnt you neuter or spay them? It would be a lot better then keeping them in seperate spaces.
You can always try putting water on them that usually will get them apart.
It means that he has tied with her, your female will be having puppies soon.
PLEASE get her spayed and get him Neutered!!

There is a HUGE pet overpopulation problem in this world-- please do not add to it!
Hope you wanted puppies
They were mating - Them being stuck is a "Tie" in dog terms.

See you back here in 63 days when you ask if shes in labor!

Have her spayed and you wont have these issues!
That is how they mate.
Great first question
THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE HAVE SEX...THEY GET STUCK TOGETHER AND YOU CANT PULL THEM APART YOU HAVE TO USE WARM WATER..POUR IT ON THEIR BOTTOMS THEY SHOULD SEPERATE AFTER A FEW ...AND YOUR LITTLE BABY IS GOING TO HAVE A FEW BABiES
That happened to my dogs I pulled them apart but somebody told me you are not supposed to do that. I didnt know Im still learning about dogs too,but the reason I pulled them apart is because she was screaming and I got scared shes a little chihuahua and the male was a pomeranian he was fixed though.
Its called tyingor the tie. The male dogs penis enlarges and he becomes effectively stuck inside her from 20 mins to 1 hour. His penis will go back to normal size slowly and he will separate from her. In dog terms, this is to ensure the transition of the sperm inside the female dog. In short, they have mated. If you take her to the vets within 24 - 48 hours there is an injection they can give her to terminate any pregnancy occuring.
its cool theres nothing u can really do but try to keep them apart
if you found them stuck together, then conception most likely took place. it is entirely normal. when dogs get it on, the male gets "stuck" in that position for a few minutes.
thats life for animals just like some men are dogs, i recon.
This is normal. The only reason this happened is because you caught them.Just like humans they dont like no one else watching them. The female was trying to stop but the male"s penis was still swollen or erected and couldnt pull out because he didnt ejaculate yet. but as you noticed after he calm down then they separated.!! Quit messing up they GROOVE!!! lol
When dogs mate, the males penis swells up and cannot be pulled out until the female relaxes. DONT try to force them apart! Just give it a few minutes and the male will dismount on his own.
Read about it here:
http://www.petbitsforyou.com/male_ana.ht...

See the third paragraph.
More than likely gonna have puppies dear. As you are still learning about them, check out a few websites about dogs, borrow a few books from the library, and then come see us here on Answers in about 63 days.
good luck. the learning process never ends.
yes it is normal thats why people use lube
Your dogs tied.
Neutered dogs can tie also (I have experienced).
You should wait for the tie to end - anywhere from a few mins (secs for some), to an hr or more (I have experienced 2 1/2 hrs). Trying to pry apart can injure. its best for them to relax.
If they are both intact, and you do not want puppies, have your ***** spayed very soon. If you do want puppies, if the breeding takes then you will have puppies in 58 to 70 days.
Just because there is a tie - does not mean it always takes.

I have bred several litters-- they dont all take.
And my 2nd litter was coming back from a dog show and my stud got to my ***** through the door wires of a vari crate (un-planned- nice litter)
But both poodles/dogs had achieved Championship, health tested, unrelated.
well..they mated..and just leave em..if u try to pry them apart..u can hurt them badly...they will eventually unstick
spay and neuter!!!!! you obviously have no business owning dogs. have them neutered asap! esp. your female!!! there are too many unwanted puppies in the world, and you may think you can find homes for all of them but can you really count on that or on them getting good homes where they will be loved and cared for?!
this is normal the male dog has a ball in its pines and it locks the female on to him so she will not get away till he is done ... it is sad but that the way it goes ...
Give them some privacy!!!

backyard. We also have 4 cats. I am an animal lover, and just wonder if I will feel like I have too many animals. we have a six year old daughter who would love a dog.
I havent had a dog since I was a kid. Should we go for it?
Answers:
I have also had pets. my favorite is the labs. I ve had them with all my children. The first two years seem to be the most active. I have done dog obedience with them and found it to be rewarding and fun. I havent run into any problems w/my kids and often say the lab as one of the gang when they where younger. Labs want very much to be involved in what is going on. I had one lab that brought in firewood when the kids where doing there chores. we would ask him to find the boys when they had there forts in the wood and he would take me to them. I find they have a great understanding with people and are very intelligent. we would take them with us hiking, the lake, etc. and I still do. They do like a lot of exercise and its easy to provide they love to retrieve, Frisbee, hide and seek in the woods. They really love and appreciate there place in the family. I also feel its good for kids to have pets. They learn how to treat and care for them and they also get the benefits of a loyal companion. Many times a memory that carries for years. Actually Im saying go for it. Its a little more work and maybe a change but the benefits are worth it.
As a person who has 4 dog of his own and is prepairing to bring in several more. I say GO FOR IT! Just remember, get a dog you will all love and take care of. Dont just get a dog to have a dog.
Dogs are great. But labs are big and rambunctious. If thats what you want for your family, go for it.
Get a Golden Retriever mine is so good with younger kids she lloes them to death
If you have the space, time, money and love. Go for it.

I have 5 cats, 3 dogs, and 2 rabbits. At times I feel like Dr.Doolittle, but they bring so much joy to my life, and they are all properly cared for, and Im not overwhelmed, so it works for our household.
If you can afford to feed them and take them to the vet, go for it. Dogs usually need more attention than cats so dont just leave him out in the backyard by himself all the time. If you can give him plenty of love and attention then I dont think thats too many. If you had 4 dogs, maybe thatd be too much. lol.
If you get a young Lab, or one who is OK with cats, it sounds like a good arrangement.
If you are buying from a breeder, be sure to see the parents, and make sure they are exactly as you want your dog to be..
yes . they are great company and you are saving a dog from being put down . there are many ,many good dogs at animal shelters . they are there usally becasue the person that had them . has eather died . or moved and couldnt take them with . that is the only place i would buy a dog from. i have two taco dogs. , a red heeler and a n akita . all of which were rescued from a shelter . and i have never regreated it yet . if you cant get along with the dog you can alwayts return them within 30 days .
I think that you should go for it. We also acquired a large dog. He is a Red Alaskan Husky that use to pull a sled in Alaska. He is so greatful and loving, and your daughter would also love it to no end.
Absolutely go for it. If you love animals, then no amount will ever feel like too many. I had 4 dogs, 2 budgies and 2 hamsters all at the same time. And two of my dogs were great danes. So I say go for it. Good Luck and good on you for considering such a rewarding option.
i have 3 dogs and one is a yellow lab.they love to run and play.you might have to play with it alot or it may want to play with the cats which i dont think the cats may like
Labs need a lot of exercise when they dont have space, which means youll have to walk the dog A LOT. I suggest you to get a small dog that likes kids; your daughter will enjoy it because it wont be stronger than her when it grows up and shell be able to walk it, cause a 6 year old doesnt have the strength to walk a vivid lab. Poodles and Yorkshires are loved by girls theyre smart and beutiful. I had a black lab and a poodle when I was 7 but I loved the poodle a lot more because I could handle her and play with her a lot more, plus if she bit anythig it didnt get ruined. Plus cleaning up after a small dog is a lot easier than after a big dog. Hope that helps.
Go for it! I have two black labs and 3 cats. Ive raised both of my labs from pups and they are great around kids and the cats. I always find the cats laying with the dogs and the dogs are grooming the cats. Labs are great dogs! Thats all I have ever owned since I was a kid. Have fun with your new pup!
They will do GREAT!

Speaking as someone in whose household the combined human weight is 258 and the combined critter weight is 190 - we just barely have an edge.

Give the kitties time to adjust and they weill all get along.Just dont force it.

I strongly suggest that if you are considering a specific breed, that you go through the Breed Resscue run by the National Breed Club affiliated with the AKC.

The rescue dogs are fostered with people involvved in the breed and they are very careful to assess each dogs personality, temperment, kid and cat friendliness (and no, just because a dog is of a breed, it does not mean they will all act alike), health and level of training. They are also available for help and advice after adoption. Knowing whether the dog likes tolerate or chases cats is important - as is their attitude towards kids. Labs are prey driven breed so check on the kitty question unless you like footraces through the house with lamps flying.

Here are the links to the Breed Club for labs and the rescue:

www.thelabradorclub.com

http://thelabradorclub.com/rescue/index.. (use the search for a resuce near you link)

You can find other breeds here:
http://www.akc.org/breeds/index.cfm.

and the links to their breed clubs and rescues are in the left hand column on the page for that specific breed.
GO FOR IT! Okay 4 cats, well they are pretty much loners anyway, so they really cannot be counted.. ha ha
I adopted 2 dogs and they are the best thing. I will never regret getting them, and I am thanked by them every chance they get. We need more people willing to adopt.
absolutely, as long as you can take care of it (which obviously you can) go for it.

I have a lab and two cats and an ant farm and theyre fabulous.

How To Tame An Aggressive Dogdog training

Dogs are aggressive out of past experiences- not out of instinct. Dogs become aggressive because they are trained by humans to be mean. Whether humans have continually picked on them, treated them cruelly, or rewarded them for aggressive behavior (a common technique by dog-fighting trainers), ANY BREED of dog can grow to become aggressive. But all dogs can also learn that they dont need to be aggressive. And with a little love all dogs can revert back to their sweet demeanor that they have been bred for hundreds of years to have. But how do you tame down a mad dog? Here are a few steps to teaching any canine how to love again.

Stay calm: Dogs pick up on a variety of emotions. They can sense fear, anger, and nervousness. So when you approach an aggressive dog go in with a confident calm. What do we mean by a confident calm? We mean, breathe deeply, be kind, do not be afraid- and take great effort to show to dog you are neither fearful nor dangerous. Be calm and collected. The dog will pick up on that, and it can make a huge difference in their attitude.

Move slowly: Aggressive dogs have often had some sort of physical abuse in the past. Whether they have been hit, kicked, or had rocks thrown at them- they are afraid of quick movements. And quick movements can cause them to lash out in self-defense. It is extremely important when being near an aggressive dog to move slowly. This shows them you are not intent on hurting them. That you are kind, and calm- and they shouldnt be afraid. Avoid quick actions, and make an avid attempt to move slowly and cauciously.

Sit on your knees: Sitting on your knees makes you look smaller, and by being smaller you look less intimidating to the dog. When you sit down on your knees, you show the dog you are not a big and scary human- but rather small and approachable.

Let the dog approach you: DO NOT approach an aggressive dog. If they feel cornered, trapped, or chased- they are likely to try to escape or defend themselves physically. Instead, sit no closer than 10 feet away, and let the dog approach you. Extend a hand, which will give the dog a small target to approach without feeling as though they need to come all the way to you.

Let them sniff your hand: When the dog approaches your hand, stay very still and offer words of reassurance in a soft voice. Let them sniff your hand. This allows them to get your scent. Essentially, you will be introducing yourself to the dog.

Let them decide when to be petted: Try moving your hand very slowly. If the dog growls, bites, or runs away- stop moving. Let them know you are not there to hurt them. You are simply trying to pet them. Let the dog sniff your hand again, and let them approach you. Try to move again. For every time they growl- quit moving. Let them know you are not going to do something if they dont want you to. Only move if they show no signs of aggression. If the dog does not growl, attempt to pet them. Move very slowly and pet them softly. Begin by petting them for only a few seconds, and then stopping. Pet them again in a minute or two- and continue the process until they begin to let you pet them for longer periods of time.

Talk softly: Always talk softly. If you have a naturally loud and boisterous voice- make an avid attempt to whisper. When people yell or talk loudly, it often seems threatening to animals. So talk very softly and kindly to the dog. Offer words of reassurance and love.

Reward appropriate behavior with snacks: After your dog has become accustomed to physical affection, begin to reward appropriate behavior with snacks. When your dog approaches you willingly- give them a snack. When your dog shows submission by rolling on their back- give them a snack. When your dog allows other people to come to them without being mean, give them a snack. Rewarding your dog for good behavior, encourages them to avoid aggressive behavior.

Do not fight back: This is a complicated thing to do. BUT if the dog bites you or growls or attempts to snap at you- do not fight back. If the dog is attacking you and will not let go, then you can fight back. But 99% of the time the dog will simply be trying to scare you away by falsely growling, snapping, and biting. They wont actually attack you- theyll just act like theyre going to, to scare you. If your dog is falsely attacking, do NOT fight back. This shows the dog you are not there to hurt them. You are not a bully. Remain calm and collected. When they begin to show aggressive behavior like this, walk away from them. Do not reward them for this behavior by continueing to give them attention. Only work with them when they are calm- not when they are actively biting at you.

Human Foods can be Poisonous to Dogsdog training

Do you often find your dog digging in the garbage? Thats my bulldog, Tucker, in the picture, and thats what his face looked like when I caught him eating garbage. He now knows better than to get in the garbage, and just the mere mention of the word "trash" causes him to look at us with "I didnt do it" eyes. He knows the sound of a fork being set down on a plate at the end of a meal, and wants to help us clean our plate. Americas dogs have become just as accustomed to overeating as we have, and most of us feel quite content giving our four-legged friends some food from our own plates. But aside from creating overweight dogs, what other problems can arise?

Most people eat the “meaty” portion of steaks and chicken, and then discard the skin and fat, and sometimes give it to the dogs. This is okay, but only once in a while. You don’t want to make a daily snack out of chicken skin due to the high content of saturated fats. Dogs and cats can suffer from high blood-pressure, as well as high cholesterol levels, and should be eating just as healthy as we should be.

(Raw meat is not advised, grocery store meats, especially pork, could be contaminated or contain parasites.)

Certain foods can even poison your dog, resulting in severe illness or even death. While most foods are perfectly safe, you’ll want to make sure your dog never gets into your chocolate stash – the cocoa can be deadly. Also, grapes and onions can be very dangerous to your dog’s health, and ingredients listings should be watched carefully.

Its a good idea to keep your garbage cans covered, and get locking lids on the kitchen trash as well, that way your dog doesnt find these foods the naughty way! Not all dogs will show signs of illness when ingesting small amounts of these foods, but depending on the dog’s size and body weight, your dog could get sick or die from eating these foods, and should also be protected from unhealthy sugar snacks. Sure, it’s cute to watch your pet stand on two legs, roll over, and give you a high-five – but try to keep the treats healthy as well!

How To Teach A Dog To Sit | puppy training

How To Teach A Dog To Sitdog training

By Barbara K

Teaching a dog to sit is easily accomplished if you follow a few simple rules and as my own personal experience shows, it can be embarrassing if you dont!

When I was young we had a beautiful, loving and overly boisterous golden labrador called Jackie. Because Mom and Dad had not taught him how to “sit”, he was always jumping up to greet people. One day a man arrived at our house to see Dad on business and as soon as Jackie saw him he just sort of pounced on him and ended up getting his claws caught in the mans zipper of his pants. Ouch! My red-faced Mom spent the next few minutes trying to extract Jackie from his pants while apologising profusely at the same time. Although looking back it was funny, for Dad it wasnt. The end result – the poor man couldnt wait to get out of the house so Dad didnt get the business, but he vowed from that moment on Jackie would be trained properly and set about doing it.

So how do you teach your dog to sit?

No distractions

For anyone starting out to teach a dog to sit you need to be in a room on your own with your dog. Grab a few doggy treats and ask your children or partner to give you a few minutes alone, about ten should be enough. If you dont, your dog will become easily distracted by their presence and youll get nowhere. Remember that a dogs attention span is very short so its better if you repeat what you are trying to teach them later on in the day but again only for short periods of time.

Praise and reward

With the dog in front of you move one of your hands holding a treat over your dogs nose and slowly move it above his head. His nose would have picked up the smell of his treat so hell know what you are holding. This action of moving the treat above his head should make his nose and eyes follow the scent and he should sit down as a result. If he doesnt a gentle push on his backside should give him the idea. As soon as he is sitting give him lots of praise and the reward. Repeat this a few times and he should be getting the idea of what you want him to do.

“Sit”

Now you can bring the command into the equation. Again use the action as before but this time speak a firm “sit” while you are moving your hand. He will begin to associate the command with the action you want him to do but again repetition is the key to his understanding. Always follow with lots of praise and of course give him his expected treat.

Phase out the treat

With patience on your part and constant repetition of the technique you will be able to get to the point where he will sit on command without receiving a treat at the end. So try it, phase out the treat and give lots more praise instead when he sits for you.

Daily routine

Once the treat has been phased out you can bring in the “sit” command into your general day to day routine. Get your dog to “sit” before he receives his dinner or before you give him his ball or any other toy. I just got 6 weeks puppy German Shepherd Mix i want to trian him as Guard dog how can i do thatdog training

Answers:
First off hes kinda young to be away from his litter. Youll need to google: bite inhibition so he doesnt bite YOU.

The best guard dogs are confident and well trained. So raise him right, socialize him, take him to obedience classes and treat him like a normal dog. When he is older then you can have your trainer evaluate him for any advanced training...Google Schutzhund if you want to really see some bite work. He would not be able to compete AFAIK.

Most GSDs dont need a lot of training, they are naturally territorial and they often need some training to tone it down so they dont bite the wrong person. The best guard dog these days doesnt bite...he just warns you about any problems. A biting dog can cause endless problems and may end up put to sleep.
They have school for training Dogs heres a link you might wanna look at http://www.gillsgermanshepherds.com/main...
I have a german shepherd who is a wonderful guard dog. The way I did it was gave him lots of love, made him a part of my family, treat him well, and give him good food, and lots of excersise. For that he protects me, our home, and my close friends.
Any other way will result in simply a mean dog that you cant trust.
If you want a guard to protect you, go and hire one. Do not force a dog to be one for you. No dog deserves or wants to be taught to attack or live outside. Dogs need to be inside with the family, they need love, attention, affection and exercise. Do not "train" your dog to be aggressive, to stay outside and to "guard" his property. Most dogs will do it naturally if they are loved inside the home.
Love it, feed it treat it like your best friend and never hit it.

This is a very young dog and you need to start with basic training. Make the sessions short and always end it on a positive reward. Make the lessons fun.

I have been training for 42 years and I would suggest that you dont start any serious protection training until it is 2 years old.
When any dog matures it instinctively becomes protective of its people and their area.

If you start making it aggressive too young, by the time it is mature it will be very hard to control because it will assume the alpha position and my end up even biting the owner.

If you are serious about Guard/Protection training make sure that the dog is 110% Basic/Companion trained before you start with the aggressive training.
There are books for that!

Humane society unhappy with dogs ruling Independent Recorddog training

The executive director of the Lewis and Clark Humane Society  said she is “very disappointed” with the result of Wednesday’s hearing regarding malamutes seized in a raid in Jefferson County.

District Court Judge Loren Tucker decided that Mike Chilinski, a man facing more than 80 charges of animal cruelty regarding his dog breeding operation, can work with the organization to place at least 70 of his dogs in homes.

“I am very disappointed that Mr. Chilinski will be allowed to ‘re-home’ these dogs to other breeders instead of letting the Humane Society work to adopt them out to rescue groups,” said Gina Wiest, the humane society director. “ My fear is that the dogs will continue to be used as breeding machines to churn out more and more puppies, instead of taken off that treadmill and given to good homes where they can live life as a dog, not a puppy-producing machine.”

Wiest made her comments Thursday, a day after Tucker made his decision at the conclusion of a lengthy hearing on the dogs’ care.

Chilinski stated in court in Boulder Wednesday that he will relinquish ownership of at least half of the dogs as long as he can help determine where the malamutes are placed. There has been some debate over the exact number of dogs seized in an October raid. Chilinski says 139 malamutes were taken, while prosecutors put the number at 161.

The dogs are currently being taken care of by the Lewis and Clark Humane Society after being seized, and are currently being held at an undisclosed indoor location. Officials have estimated the cost of caring for the dogs at $11,000 a month.

Chilinski, 51, testified he has had offers from people from around the world who want his dogs, and that he is renowned as a top breeder. He said malamute rescue organizations have had about 500 applicants who want to adopt his animals.

Tucker said the adoptions can only happen with the understanding that Chilinski will never regain those dogs.

Jefferson County Attorney Matt Johnson alleges that many of the malamutes were emaciated, malnourished and had parasites. The dogs also lacked water and were housed in feces-covered pens, he said.

“It might not be the best scenario,” Johnson told the judge during discussion of the ruling in court.

Chilinski and his lawyer, who could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon, argued that the dogs should be able to return home.

Attorneys for both sides will have 20 days to submit documents in support for their arguments made during the two-part hearing. After that point, Tucker will make further determination on the fate of the dogs that are not placed in the meantime.

While the judge’s timeline was not clear, Wiest said she understood that the shelter would be able to care for the dogs for a least another month before they were released to new homes. She underscored the details were still being worked out, but all costs for shipping, health certificates, transportation and other details relating to the transfer would be the responsibility of the new owners.

While most of the evidence related to the dogs has already been secured, the county still has an obligation to care for the dogs. Some of the expense could be recovered if Chilinski were convicted of animal cruelty and ordered to pay restitution as part of a sentence.

“We will have all the dogs at least another month, and possibly many more for an indeterminate amount of time, depending on the courts,” Wiest said. “The costs continue to mount to care for the dogs, and donations are appreciated and still much-needed.”

How to Train a Boxer Dog | dan sullivan dog trainer

How to Train a Boxer Dogdog training

Although my intention for this blog is how to train a dog in general, today I want to talk to you about how to train a Boxer dog. My readers all know that Boxers are my favorite dog breed and will often see me refer to them. I want to make it clear though that I’m a dog lover first, then a Boxer dog lover second. I’ve owned numerous breeds including a Beagle that was with me before I got my Boxer.

Before I get into how to train a Boxer dog I want to talk about the history and temperament of this breed. The Boxer is a dog full of energy and is extremely playful. I sometimes laugh (inside of course) when I see the worry on people’s face when I’m walking my dog. People who don’t know the breed think that they are mean dogs because of their look and stature. My reaction is always to tell the person that Boxers are friendly dogs that love people and ask if they want to pet him. Most will say okay and are surprise when he starts wagging his tail and his overall friendliness.

Anyways back to the Boxer profile. This breed is an extremely loyal family companion. If you are looking to learn how to train a Boxer dog, then I think you should also know that this breed is not for everyone. Because they are extremely intelligent they can be trained faster than other dogs but their intelligence is also used to get what they want.

Some people who are looking to learn how to train a Boxer dog tend to assume that they are naturally aggressive dogs but this couldn’t be further from the truth. These dog’s love humans and will also get along with other animals. They are also known to be one of those dogs that stay in the puppy hood stage for a long time (up to 4 years).

A short history of the Boxer dog

The Boxer dog is a medium sized, short haired dog with a stocky build. Just like many other breeds, they originated from Germany where they bred from using the English Bulldog and the Bullenbeisser (now extinct).

Boxers now hold the title of one of the most popular dog breeds by the AKC. They are the 6th most popular dog in the US for the second year in a row.

How to Train a Boxer dog

When training a Boxer you should understand that these dogs can have a stubborn streak. There will be times when you ask her to do something and you can tell that they understand you but will look at you in the face and just ignore you. I mention this for the second time because you to be patient.

One of the biggest aspects of training a boxer is socialization. Boxers are naturally very friendly dogs but they also need to the socialization to become well balanced confident dogs in all situations. The best way to train a boxer is through classes where they will be along side other people and dogs.

Socialization should begin as early as you get you puppy and is an important part for anyone who is seriously looking to learn how to train a dog. The real Boxer dog training should begin when your dog is between the age of 13- 16 weeks. At this age your dog will begin to test you and your dominance. They may even try to nip to show you that they are boss but mainly they will try not to listen to you. This is where you have to show your Boxer that bad behavior will not be tolerated.

In terms of the actual training techniques, Boxer dog training is really no different than training another breed. If you follow the methods outlined in this blog you will be able to have a well obedient dog. Hopefully you’ve learned something from this how to train a Boxer dog post and stay tuned for some more tips and ticks.

I accidently killed my neighbors dog this morning what should I dodog training

I was comin home for lunch durin some free time at school. When I drove up the driveway I didnt see the dog running towards the car. Now its dead..What should I do?
Answers:
tell them and do what ever you can to make it up to them..
report it to the police..and they will contact animal control
Hide it in the bushes and continue living!
you should tell him that you are really sorry.explain the situation..and offer to pay for a replacement
Apologize, and offer to buy a new dog.
Let your neighbor know
Pay them something, or ask them if they want another dog, get them one. Thats really the only thing you can do.
r u like, asking this question on ur phone, did u JUST kill this dog? tell the truth, or if this is some kind of joke, go to the police and tell the u r a crazy looney who thinks killing dogs is funny and theyll lock u up
tell them the truth.Past always comes forward.
Ummmmmmmm wow. Well for starters tell him! I hope you didnt just leave the dog there for them to find!
Be honest. It was an accident.
woah dude. tell them. then offer some money b4 they sue u. unless they werent really attached to the poor dog. but tell them anyways.
omg poor you!! you should tell them really but its a bit difficult if you have left it this long! has your car got a dent in it?? what did you do with the dog?? did u just leave it there poor thing!
Hide the body and dont tell anyone you did it. If anyone asks say you didnt even know it happened.
If no one saw you for sure then dont say anything, i dont know what i would do its kinda been to long now to tell them that you did it. but its only right to tell the truth. anyways it sounds like its the dogs fault
Tell them! I had a friend and her dog got ran over and she found him laying on the side of the road..dead! She was mad! Mostly because someone ran over her dog but she was also really mad that they just drove off without telling her and that they didnt at least show that they cared by apologizing even though that couldnt have fixed it but it would make her feel a little better.
be honest, even if you think you could get away with lying just tell them because it might eat away at you forever!! and im no saint myself, i know these things!!

lol seriously though tell them offer to get a new one (but be sensitive saying it especially if theres kids) and make sure they know how sorry you are (even if you dont care its better you pretend you do because they might think you did it out of spite!) get them a card saying sorry and really just do your best

if they never talk to you again at least you tried man!

and um if you do it again they could like report you or something so..be careful!!

good luck, your gonna need it.
if you dont know your neighbors, not a good way to start, but be the man and git hold of your back pocket and march over to do the correct thing and offer amends.
First of all buying them a new dog will not help them with their problem of losing the old dog. Contact the animal control to remove the dog and let them tell the neighbors you might want to be there. The dog should have been in the house or in a fenced yard. Apologize to them in a letter. You do not owe them a new dog. I would consider that disrespectful if you ran over my dog and tried to replace it. Just be a friend and give them time to morn the dog.
go straight to the neighbor and explained what happen and tell them it was a accident. if you can drive then you are old enough to know right from wrong and you know what you should of done right away instead of getting on your computer and asking this question. if it was your dog would you want the person who killed it to come to you or go asked someone on the computer first??
Its not your fault! Legally, its their fault for letting it run loose. If your car was damaged in the process, you could sue them.
Morally, you should probably tell them and apologize.
Pray to God that your neighbors wont kill you, and tell them.
U should Go 2 the Owners And Say " Ur Dog And My Car Had A Accident"
You should tell them. But dont offer them any money that is just wrong, and it wouldnt change the fact that their dog is dead. Tell them how sorry you are and ask them if there is anything you can do for them.

In my opinion the dog shouldnt have been ANYWHERE but in their yard. Maybe it got out accidentally, and that I can understand.
Tell your parents and get their help if you need it. Tell your neighbor at the first opportunity. If the dogs body is lying in the street, pick it up and put it in a box or something so they wont be shocked to see their dogs body in the street. You can offer to give them the body or dispose of it for them, depending on what they want to do. Also, since you have destroyed their property, its appropriate to offer to pay them for the dog or get them a new dog. Let them decide.
oh my gosh dude! you should really tell them because you you know that every loves honesty, hope you dont get into TOO much trouble
Well if you didnt already tell them tell them. And uhh theres really nothing you can do to make up for it because they probably wont even want you to do anything. But if they are thinking of buying a new dog you should be the one to pay for it. And if they are going to have him burried you should pay for what they need. So technically all you have to do is pay i guess. But it would help if you asked if you can do anything to pay up.
Do the right thing and tell your neighbors. they will want to know so that they may grieve and find closure;as well,as forgiveness
Eat it.

How to Train a Dog to Be Your Best Frienddog training

Since every canine has his or her own personality, learning to train a dog isn’t always the easiest experience. Indeed, some dogs take to training like a duck to water. Others, though, present a much larger challenge.

Does it sometimes feel like the dog that you bring home is always the challenging one? Don’t worry, you’re not alone!

Many people find that they need more help than the average training course or manual in order to train a dog well. The typical basic resource lacks the extra oomph that is sometimes required to effectively train a dog and maintain that positive relationship you want to share with him or her.

Alternative information to train a dog is actually out there; you just need to know what you’re looking for. Many people try to use the internet, speak to their veterinarians, talk to other dog owners, or even chat with the instructors at training courses. However, as much as the tips and tricks that these resources offer to train a dog may be useful, what they really need is a complete program that covers the training issues in their entirety.

When you’re trying to find the right program to teach you how to train a dog, make sure that you find one that is reliable, is offered by an experienced dog trainer, and that does not make unrealistic promises. Be certain that the program you’ll be using clearly shows you what it is about and what you can expect from your dog when you use it.

After lots of research and messy burns with different dog training books and programs myself (I’m not even going to go there) I finally came upon one that worked. How to Train Your Dog | commands for dogs

How to Train Your Dogdog training

How to Train Your Dog

When you start, you need to recognize two facts about your dog.  Your mat can be as simple as a bunch of newspaper or as elaborate as an artificial grass mat that simulates the outdoors. Radio wave operated deluxe doors can successfully counter this situation. Frequent UrinationThe presence of any of these signs indicates the possibility of a urinary tract infection. Make sure there is plenty of air and shade. These can be purchased at pet food stores and veterinarians. This prevents dead spots in your lawn and helps to prevent odor from feces and urine.

Having chosen the style, you must ensure that the door is large enough to allow an easy passage for your dog. There are several different types of doors, from the basic models that make use of a mechanical flap to the deluxe ones that are radio wave operated. The larger your dog, the larger the burnt spot that will subsequently appear. There are several ways to solve the problem of these unsightly dead spots: Take your dog to a park or wooded area where it can urinate. This can cause a concentrated amount of nitrogen to be applied in a small area, which causes burning.  The concept is simple.

|If you can get your spilt grain under control, youll soon find that your mice problem is also under control.Having been rescuing and befriending abandoned cats for over 26 years, I have become very cognizant of the importance of providing and maintaining our furry friends once active outdoor lifestyles to their new indoor environment. And be aware that several short sessions are much more effective than one long marathon session.  Ten or fifteen minute sessions are plenty for most pups. This should be a positive bonding experience for you and your pup. This really is number one  most important  first and foremost. Always end dog training sessions on a positive successful note.

I have a small breed dog who has bee vomitting clear bile Whats wrong and what should I dodog training

Hes a small dotson and mix and this happened once before and the vet suggested a 24 hour fast for him. I have tried that again and he still seems to be vomitting all the time.
Answers:
Go to the Vet ASAP. Only they can run the proper tests to see whats going on. Good Luck.
make sure the food isnt on the "recall" list. Also, change the dogs bedding (if applicable). It may have allergies.
can your dog still drinks water?what i do when my dog is vomiting is mix her water with hydrite for nutrition...but some dogs dont drink water, instead theyre given hydration with intravenous fluid...still you need to check your vet.if its bile your dog has vomited, she may experience ulcer...
Has she been tested for heartworms?
I noticed my dog doing this before. Give him a tsp of gerber rice and chicken baby food. Repeat every hour. I think my dog got this because I fertilized the lawn. Now I never do. It gets on their body and then they lick it off. Have you fertilized lately?
Take your dog to your vet

I think this is a COOL dogdog training

So at the time when I got Shasta I had just given up my other dog.(A pit cross) So there was some sadness there but it was good too. It was a day at the street fair in a little town we lived in and there was puppies there. I asked for one being only 14 at the time. (Now about to turn 18)

I couldnt get one. But my mom did say that we could go ask a friend about going with us later that week to amusement park. I couldnt wait for that and it sounded fun since we had met them there anyways. So as we pulled into there drive way there was a dog changed onto a dog house.

She barked at us but all I could say was "That dog is cool" My mom thought I had lost it. As we went in and talked the lady of the house said that the dog was born right there but couldnt come in because it would poop in the house.

So it lived there on the side of there house. After some more talking and a little begging my mom said yes that we could take Shasta home and try her out for a week. Once there I groomed her all up (Mostly just shaved her down) so she could come into our house.

For the next 4 hours I was in my room with her just working on getting her to come over to me. After that and having me leave for work with my mom and so forth I found out she would poop in the house if not locked in a crate. So we worked on that and just getting her used to people.

It took close to 3 years before she wouldnt run from my mom and we could pass her food without her having to hide to eat it. Now she thinks shes a small dog and happy as ever. Shes also really good with kids and everything. So good that she didnt even mind my moms crazy old dog.
