How To Teach A Dog To Come The Easiest Of Recall Dog Training Methods

Want to teach a dog to come? Its not as difficult as you may think. Here are two recall dog training methods that work.
1. The Really Easy Way To Train A Dog To Come When Called
Wait until your pup comes to you naturally. When the dog comes to you (for a rub or for play or for a treat or whatever), say firmly, "Come," as the dog approaches.
Speak loud enough for your dog to hear but dont yell. Dont combine "Come" with a bunch of other words. So dont say, "Come here, you little cutie." An important dog obedience training tip is to use single words when possible. Dogs respond best to single words, not combinations of words.
When the dog gets to you, say, "Good come." Say it in an excited tone of voice and praise the dog effusively. Give the dog a treat.
See how easy this is? Youre able to start training without doing anything but going about your normal routine. Your pup gets to play and have fun, and you get your free time. How great is that?
This method words great. I used it to train my Springer spaniel, Ducky, to come, and she runs to me like a shot when I call. She also expects a treat every time I call her, so I walk around with a pocket full of kibble, but I dont mind. Having an obedient dog is worth it.
2. The Almost As Easy Way To Get Your Dog To Come
If you want to work on "Come" and not wait until your dog happens to get around to coming to you, go directly to the reward system.
Rewards can be either food rewards or toy rewards. Ive found food works best, but some dogs love their toys so much that toys can work too.
For the food method, get a treat your pup loves or a small bite of a special (but healthy) food like baked chicken. Call your dog to you. Your dog will probably smell the food and come. When he does, say, "Come" as he approaches and then reward him with effusive praise, the words, "Good come," and the treat.
If your dog loves a particular toy or toys, call your dog to you by luring him or her with a toy. As your pup approaches, say, "Come." Then give the toy to the dog as praise for "Good come."
With either of these methods, be sure you never make this obedience training mistake: Never call your dog to you and then do something your dog doesnt like. Dont use the word "Come" to get the dog to come to you and then do something like yell, lock the dog up, give him medicine or cut his nails.
Always go to your pup when you need to do something your dog doesnt like. You want your canine to associate positive things with coming to you.
See? Learning to teach a dog to come isnt as hard as you thought it would be, is it? These two recall dog training methods are fun and easy to fit into your daily routine.
